Munich is the second most popular hotspot after Berlin and is a real contradiction of old tradition versus new style building and thinking. You could spend literally weeks exploring the numerous museums alone.

For charm and of course wine, try the Rhine Valley with its wonderful scenery, hills strewn with vineyards, castles and sleepy wine villages.
